Bachelor of Science in Forestry
The Bachelor of Science in Forestry is abbreviated as B.Sc.Forestry. It is an undergraduate professional degree programme. It is a full time three year program.
Forestry is the science and craft of creating, managing, using, conserving, and repairing forests and associated resources, in a sustainable manner, to meet desired goals, needs, and values for human benefit. Forestry is practiced in plantations and natural stands. The challenge of forestry is to create systems that are socially accepted while sustaining the resource and any other resources that might be affected. The forest science has elements that belong to the biological, physical, social, political and managerial sciences.
Forestry is now being regarded as a separate science. Under this, the fundamentals behind the management of natural forests come by way of natural ecology. Forests or tree plantations, those whose primary purpose is the extraction of forest products, are planned and managed utilizing a mix of ecological and agroecological principles.
Forestry education typically includes training in general biology, botany, genetics, soil science, climatology, hydrology, economics and forest management.
To learn the course more easily, knowledge of English would prove to be advantageous. To join this course, candidates must have passed 10+2.
After the successful completion of the course, candidate may find career opportunities as an Auditor in Forestry, Assistant Manager in Forestry/Wildlife, Nursery Manager, Farming Manager and Teacher/Lecturer etc.
