A Guest Lecture on Career Orientation

ABOUT EVENT

An informative guest lecture on “Career Orientation” was conducted on 04.04.2018 at DBIMS, top management colleges in Dehradun, for the management students. The guest lecture was carried by Wing Commander (Retired) Mansoor Siddqui, who as of now also runs a Training Centre “Foster Education”.  He emphasized the need to bridge the academic and industrial gap that hampers the growth of the students in the industry. The need to be ambivert and diplomatic in ones response was also highlighted. Being extrovert or introvert in an introvert dampens the chance of being selected.

He gave an explanatory review on the kind of questions that could be asked in an interview and how a student should tackle such situations. Commander Siddqui represented the implications of a response given by an interviewee through innovative role plays. These role plays kept the students engrossed in the enlightening session.

The need to be descriptive was accentuated. It’s highly important to have good communication skills so that the interviewee could give an elaborate account in the most precise manner possible. The sort of answer given by the interviewee and his/her body language conveys a lot about character and hence, alters the chances of him/her being designated.

This illuminating session proved to be very constructive, especially for the final year students, who were soon to face interviews.
